London’s world-famous New Year’s Eve fireworks display reaches global audiences.

Watching the annual London New Year’s Eve fireworks display is one of the best ways to start the New Year in the city.

Organised by the Mayor of London, the display illuminates the sky with more than 12,000 fireworks and 2,000 lighting cues expertly choreographed to music.

Starting when Big Ben chimes at midnight, the fireworks are set off from the iconic London Eye and river Thames, providing a stunning backdrop for the occasion. The 2020 display included a football theme to celebrate London hosting seven games of the UEFA EURO 2020 Championship.

Access to the riverside viewing areas is ticketed to ensure the event stays safe and fun. More than 10 million viewers tune in to watch the live TV broadcast and the footage is played at hundreds of New Year’s Eve celebrations across the city.

The fireworks are also beamed to TV audiences across the world and can be enjoyed online with the BBC.
